Former Lib Dem MP turned media personality goes to City firm to dispense wisdom picked up from political experience, writes Farah Dib

While the party he once served in grapples with the challenges of Coalition, Lembit Opik has announced that he has headed full-steam into the world of management, confirming plans he hinted at in an interview with Professional Manager last year.

Opik is to share his “Lessons From Politics” at City-based firm Leadenhall Consulting, where he will offer training programmes for managers – including “Lost in Translation” for team leaders in international organisations, and “Have I Got Views For You” on public speaking.

As Opik told Professional Manager in August, people would be surprised to learn about his background in training and development. Long before entering the world of politics and his later divergence into entertainment, Opik started his career as international training manager at Procter & Gamble.

Speaking about his return to business, Opik said: “I’m up for this initiative, and hope progressive companies will give our new approach a try. Training is the most satisfying thing I’ve ever done – and it’s great to be back.”
