Westminster luminaries back inaugural Professions Week project to bring diverse youngsters into senior roles.

Young people are to be encouraged into management as the UK’s leading professional bodies bid to inject new blood into the senior ranks of the national workforce.

Professions Week, which begins on 21 October, will see CMI join forces with other major professional bodies to show youngsters what careers in management, or professions such as accountancy or the law, can do for them.

The series of events has received high-level political endorsement – with shadow skills minister Gordon Marsden headlining the launch event in the House of Commons.

The week will help outline how best to attract young talent to the professions, in a changing educational and economic landscape. Organisers aim to increase awareness of the professions among youngsters from all walks of life.

Ann Francke, CMI chief executive, will join Marsden in speaking at the parliamentary launch. She said: “We at CMI are delighted to be involved with the inaugural Professions Week. Together with colleagues from other prominent professional bodies, we want to showcase just what great careers jobs in the professions offer our talented young people. With buy-in from leading lights from both sides of Westminster, I am confident the week will be a resounding success.”
